Java application design

Hi again guys :) If you want to develop a web application in java, how long it'll take for non-java programmer to learn the technology, design and develop that system ? This becomes an important factor when you starting a new project and your resources are not java experts ! What do you do ?

As Shijith said i also feel that an experience problem solving programmer with good OOPS concept can get in to java with out much pain.. I already proved it with my team.. thanks to Febin, Sharee, Anu Raveendran , they all are .NET programmers and we did a IVRS Java project in just 40days. Tools : JAVA+HIBERNATE+STRUTS1.2+VELOCITY+GWT+CALLXML to be frank i am comfort with my team.

If the person have a good

If the person have a good knowledge in OOD and have a good experiance, then it will not be a BIG issue. If I am the lead in such a situation, I will use him from design onwords and at the same time he can learn the language.
